The Comings And Goings

Another busy week is almost over.  We started the week off on Sunday trying to put up the tree.  We finally finished the job on Monday night.  Once we had the tree out and up we realized that the lights were only half working.  Off to Wally-World we went to purchase new lights.  They have a million lights to chose from!  By the time we got back home it was too late to finish the decorating.  The kids finished it up on Monday night.  After talking to several friends, it seems that non-working lights was a common problem with the decorating this year.

We continued on through the week with the normal routines and cold weather.  Last Saturday we had our first real snow.  It was only a couple of inches, but enough to make the roads a little slick.  We have another storm heading our way this weekend but the weather people aren't saying where exactly it is going to hit or how much.  A teacher at school has a sign in her room that says "Please Snow, I'm A Teacher"  I can't imagine what it would be like to live in a state that doesn't get snow.  Those poor kids and teachers have no idea what a 2-hour delay or a snow day is.  Sad.  I like 2-hour delay days, you get to sleep in and they still count as a school day so we don't have to make them up.  Last year we were in school until June 3 b/c of snow days.

Andy and Rachel will finish off the school week tomorrow with field trips.  Andy is going bowling and Rachel is going ice skating.  Thankfully, cross my fingers, I don't have to go on either of these field trips.  Now I may get to work in the morning and they may decide that I need to go (if a teacher is absent or something).  I don't know for sure what I am going to do, except enjoy the peace and quiet of the hallways.  I do have some tests that I can grade all day for one teacher.

Ryan is getting ready for his Christmas pageant at school.  He is going to be a sheep.  It will be a bittersweet time this year, our dear director of the school passed away a year ago this coming January.  Mrs. Hoffmann was the organist and always headed up the plays and different activities.  It is also Ryan's last year in elementary school.  My baby is growing up.

This weekend we have a few fun things planned.  My dad's side of the family is getting together to celebrate the holiday with a big meal.  On Sunday we are suppose to have our family picture taken with David's family.  Now I don't know if this really qualifies as "fun", but we have to do it.  Trying to get 16 people together looking at the camera at the same time and not blinking is going to be quite a feat.

Hopefully all of you have fun things planned for the weekend.  For those of you in the warmer climates, enjoy your weather.  We will be able to send you some snow if you want.  Have a great weekend!
